Nigeria head coach Gernot Rohr has said that Tammy Abraham has been assured of a spot with the England national side and that should end the speculation of him switching his allegiance to the Super Eagles. The 22-year-old has been a revelation for the Blues since making the breakthrough under manager Frank Lampard this term and he has already bagged eight goals across all competitions for the club.

As a result, Abraham seems on the cusp of earning his competitive debut with the Three Lions this month and the same has been confirmed by Super Eagles boss Rohr. He told in a press conference on Wednesday: “It is also significant to note that Abraham has been assured that he will be in the England squad.”

Meanwhile, the press questioned regarding the probability of Fikayo Tomori representing the west African nation but Rohr stressed that does not matter at the moment with the centre-back yet to give a thought, he continued: “Tomori is a very good friend of our player Ola Aina (former Chelsea and England youth international) and he said he does not want to discuss this for now. We have to focus on what we have and not lose focus about what people say all the time.”

Tomori started the season on the bench with Kurt Zouma and Andreas Christensen favoured for the central defensive roles in the injury absence of Antonio Rudiger. However, he has since managed to win over the manager with a string of top-notch performances and Lampard has recently stated that the young Blues graduate has become an undisputed starter.

Tomori can represent Canada, Nigeria, or England at the international level but he seems keen on following the same route as Abraham. The youngster has already featured for the England Under-21s and reports suggest that he could soon turn out for Gareth Southgate’s squad.
